It was an amazing experience to visit Barrett Town Primary School and SOS Children's Village in Montego Bay, Jamaica, through Pack for a Purpose, an organisation that aims to positively impact communities around the world by assisting travellers who want to make meaningful contributions to the destinations they visit.

All of the staff and children I met were so kind and welcoming, and I'm feeling inspired to do more to help them in future.

And thanks to the wonderful Kameil Brown from the Half Moon Hotel in Montego Bay, who was my trusty guide for the day.

Having visited Jamaica over 10 times in recent years and helped several individuals on a personal ad-hoc basis, I decided to Pack for a Purpose this year with the hope that I could help some children.

I took various school materials with me and all the kids I met were absolutely delightful. So polite and welcoming and I can’t wait to see them again!

Then Kameil took me to the SOS Childrens Village so that I could donate two large bags of my clothes. I was blown away by the kindness of the management team and it was an absolute pleasure to meet some of the resident children and to view inside the house that is sponsored by the Half Moon.

I definitely want to do more to help both of these fantastic facilities and their gorgeous children.

And I will.
